In 2017 Army Veteran James Powers found himself as one of over 300,000 veterans who received an erroneous or miscalculated Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) debt notice. James used his story and situation to demonstrate how Veterans can utilize Congressional resources when resolving issues with government agencies. He took things a step further later that year by lending his voice before a US Senate field hearing. Providing useful insight on a host of veteran issues. This testimony lead to his involvement in the introduction of legislation to address issues with the VA. From his Story VET-Up was born.
VET-UP is a veteran-centric organization who's mission is to address issues facing Veterans and Service members transitioning to civilian life, provide opportunities for veterans to participate in democracy through advocacy and civil engagement and to help effect meaningful change in an effort to honor the Oaths, Creeds and Ethos we all hold so dear.
